Money Tree (BMI# 021306632)

©lyrics & music by Lisa N. Jacobi (BMI-021306632)

Down off the center of Charlotte Street
A banker’s town rife with disease
There was cash in its veins, now no money remains
Where once it was growing on trees
Tony oversaw investments
Highly paid for his expertise
A sweet corner office, making false profits
But now he’s been brought to his knees, brought to his knees

In the money tree
treeeee
Making false profits, from his shiny corner office
now he’s living ‘mongst limbs and leaves, in the money tree

Bridget was a teller on 7th
She counted pennies and dimes
Years of dedication, were not her salvation
Pink-slipped at closing time

Then there’s a guy down on Tryon
I’d say that his story is true
Spent years at the bank, til the economy tanked,
Now all that remains are his shoes, some damn nice shoes

In the Money Tree,
Treeee
Wears em while he sleeps, keeps them tied to his feet
And dammit I do it too… in the money treeeeee

On ladders and limbs
come on and climb on in
sleep with one eye oh-pen

It’s a condition we feared
The slipstream is here
poverty every 10 years

So is that how it goes?
Feel every man’s woes
while Wall Street Crooks are cleared?

In the Money Tree
Tree
instrumental break
instrumental break

Trading their days from ladders to limbs
That ain’t no way to retire
What happens when they die? Do they drop like flies?
Does anybody see them expire?

These 50 year olds ain’t worth nothin’
When corporate HQ wipes the slate
You’re first on their list, they think you’ll never be missed
But Hell, you pulled all the weight…

In the money tree
treeeeee
What happens when they die? Do they drop like flies?
Does anybody see them lyin’

Beneath the money tree
treeeeee
What happens when they die? Do they drop like flies?
Does anybody see them lie? In the Money Tree.

Somewhere in Nowhere West Virginia
Roaming these coal black hills tonight
Your beauty’s no longer in my sight now
Sweet memories are all that come with light

From these hills you wander through the darkness
Cross streams your spirit flows on by
Somewhere in Nowhere West Virginia
Darlin’, you’re gone from me tonight

You seek but find not what’s been hidin’
Deep mountains pull, your heart forever pines
Silent footsteps keep you from my side now
As Indigo Child peers through the walls of time

From these hills you wander through the darkness
Cross streams your spirit flows on by
Somewhere in Nowhere West Virginia
Darlin’, you’re gone from me tonight

A voice as silent as the snow flies
Winter, quietly drifts in
Deep winds echo as your souls sighs
With words that endlessly begin

From these hills you wander through the darkness
Cross streams your spirit flows on by
Somewhere in Nowhere West Virginia
Darlin’, you’re gone from me tonight

Silent footsteps keep you from my side now
Sweet memories are all that come with light

(for two voices)

On the evening
==== evening of your death
Of your death
== evening of your death
Did you pull all
======== all out of life
Out of life
======== all out of life
What’s there now
============= you’d like not to see?
Like not to see
========== like not to see?

Living here on borrowed time.

The race of days
=========== days will beleaguer you
Will beleaguer you
============= days will beleaguer you
What would you say
============== say now that you’re through
Say now that you’re through
=== now that you’re through
Now that you’re through
=========== through as you leave it
Now as you leave it
============= about to leave it

Living here on borrowed time.

On the evening
==== evening of your death
Of your death
== evening of your death
Did you pull all
======== all out of life
Out of life
======== all out of life
What’s there now
============= you’d like not to see?
Like not to see
========== like not to see?

Living here on borrowed time.

Did you take
===== take honest risks
Take honest risks
============ take honest risks
Take care
======= of the unspoken for
Take care
=== care of the unspoken for
What would you say
=============== would you say as you’re about to leave it
As you’re about to leave it
============ say as you’re about to leave it.

Living here on borrowed time.

On the evening
==== evening of your death
Of your death
== evening of your death
Did you pull all
======== all out of life
Out of life
======== all out of life
What’s there now
============= you’d like not to see?

Where You Are (BMI# 00490476433 )

©lyrics & music by Lisa N. Jacobi (BMI-00490476433)

V1
Leave a message on your silenced phone
Promises you would but of course you’re not home
Chalk it up to wild oats, those left unsown
I’m just wondering where you are

V2
You talk in generalities
A nonchalance –  takes me to my knees
Come around to say you’re here to please
I’m still wondering where you are

Chorus
I’m still wondering where you are
Search my soul I searched my heart
Who’s to say Who’s to blame
I’m just wondering where you are

Guitar over verse chords

V3
You call me just in time – to call it off tonight
Too resolute to run, to tired to fight
Forty winks a day, cause I don’t sleep at night
Cause I’m still wondering where you are

Chorus
I’m still wondering where you are
Search my soul I searched my heart
Who’s to say Who’s to blame
I’m still wondering where you are

Where you are….
Out on verse chords

You say you’re the one but you’re always gone
You say you’re the one but you’re always gone
this fool’s wondering where you are

Came down from Bristol, bankin’ on a left hand turn
Came down from Bristol, bankin’ on a left hand turn
He’s a Tennessee Twister, with 500 miles to burn.

Tennessee Twister, Tennesse Twister
Whatcha runnin’ mister, Tennessee Twister
He’s gotta keep on movin’ those revenuers won’t let him be

Roared into Knoxville, runnin’ with that Volunteer Tea
Roared into Knoxville, runnin’ with that Volunteer Tea
Dim lights for Chattanooga, the ATF won’t let see me

Tennessee Twister, Tennesse Twister
Whatcha runnin’ mister, Tennessee Twister
He’s gotta keep on movin’ those revenuers won’t let him be

Truckstop Drama with a pistol by my side
Truckstop Mama says she’s looking for a ride
Attraction and Distraction with a real live Colt 45

From Bristol down to Knoxville onto Nashville Town
They wanted the impossible, tried to slow him down
Those revenue-in agents, they won’t let him be
He’s the fastest whiskey hauler in the state of Tennessee

Stopped down in Nashville, distillin’ with those rhythm and brews
Stopped down in Nashville, distillin’ with those rhythm and brews
WELL He just pulled out for Memphis, Singin’ them revenue-in blues
He just pulled out for Memphis, Singin’ them revenue-in blues
